Card

Make a digital business card without an account.

Type a name, a title, a company, a phone number, an email, and the links you want on the card. SayHi builds a vCard 3.0 file and a QR code of that same file. Nothing on this form is uploaded. The generator and the importer are listed on the tools page.

    What the file contains

The download is one contact, not a spreadsheet. It is vCard 3.0: BEGIN:VCARD,VERSION:3.0, and END:VCARD, with CRLF line endings. A single name field is written as FN (the name a phone shows) and as the family-name part ofN, because this form does not split given name and surname. Company isORG. Title is TITLE. Phone is TEL;TYPE=CELL. Email isEMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET. Each kept link is a URL, and the labels are repeated in NOTE so a phone that only shows URLs still has them, and a phone that shows notes still has the label you typed.

    BEGIN:VCARD
    VERSION:3.0
    N:Lovelace\, Ada;;;;
    FN:Lovelace\, Ada
    ORG:Analytical Engines
    TITLE:Analyst
    TEL;TYPE=CELL:+1 555 010 1999
    EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:ada@example.com
    URL:https://example.com/ada
    NOTE:Website: https://example.com/ada
    END:VCARD

Commas, semicolons, backslashes, and line breaks inside a name, title, company, or note are escaped. Lovelace, Ada stays one name. A pasted line break becomes the two characters \n, so it cannot close the card early and start a second contact. Lines longer than 75 bytes are folded: the next physical line begins with a space, which a reader removes. The file is UTF-8. vCard 3.0 does not put a charset on each property; the download type is text/vcard;charset=utf-8.

    What the QR code is

The square is the same vCard text, not a link to this tool and not an image from another site. It is drawn here with error correction M, which can recover about 15 percent of damaged modules, and a quiet zone of four modules so a camera has a margin. Scan it and the phone should offer to add the contact. That code is a snapshot. If the phone number changes, a printed copy is stale. A SayHi page is the copy you can edit later. The QR on this tool is the vCard, so it works before you claim a username. The save button on the published page includes https://sayhi.page/yourname as a URL on the card.

    After you publish

“Edit in the studio” opens the Elegant template: serif type, your title under your name, then company, phone, email, and links. It also adds a short contact form, so someone who scanned your card can send a note instead of copying a number. Publish it and the card lives at sayhi.page/yourname, where you can change a phone number or a job title without reprinting anything. Visitors get a “Save contact” button that downloads the same vCard, and messages from the form land in your SayHi inbox with the usual spam protection.

Consultants and freelancers who need a page a client can open, rather than only a file, can start from the card and keep theconsultant page or thefreelancer page in mind while editing. The card does not book calls or send proposals.

    Questions

    Do I need an account?

No. The vCard and the QR code are built in this browser. Claiming sayhi.page/yourname is a separate step. “Edit in the studio” stores the draft in this browser for a day.

    Is the phone number uploaded?

No. This form does not post to SayHi. The download and the QR code use the values on the page. The studio draft stays in this browser until you publish.

    Why vCard 3.0?

The file says VERSION:3.0, which is the contact file phones open from a .vcf download or a QR code. vCard 4.0 is the newer spec. The fields here — name, organization, title, phone, email, and URL — are the 3.0 properties those apps already import.

What happens when someone saves or writes from the published page?

“Save contact” downloads your vCard to their phone. If you turned on visitor insights, you can see that the card was saved. Messages from the contact form arrive in the same SayHi inbox as every other page, with the same spam protection.

    Which links are kept?

http and https URLs only, up to six. A label is optional. A bare domain, a mailto link, or a javascript URL is left out of the file, the QR code, and the studio draft.
